Women usually require more sleep than men because of their “complex” of the brain. To such conclusion scientists have come, and have given this explanation.
The woman should sleep on average 20 minutes longer than men, Scientists have found that women need 20 minutes more sleep than a man. According to scientists, due to the fact that the female brain works more intensively during the day.
The study was conducted on a sample population of 210 men and women of middle age. The study’s author, Professor Jim Horne (Jim Horne), in recent Director of the research center for sleep at Loughborough University, notes that one of the main functions of sleep is to restore brain after hard work.
During deep sleep, the cerebral cortex, the part of the brain responsible for memory, thought and speech, disengaged from the senses and goes into recovery mode. Professor Horne said that most sleep duration due to the complexity and intensity of brain activity throughout the day.
According to scientists, the greater the load the brain is experiencing during the day, the more time it takes to restore it and, therefore, the more sleep one needs.
Women are usually prone to multitasking. They do a lot of things at once, so they use more of their brain than men. Because of this, their need for sleep more on average for 20 minutes, but some women may need slightly more or less.
Professor Horne noted that men performing complex tasks that involve decision-making and lateral thinking may also need more sleep than the average man, who does not bear a substantial psychological burden.
The study also found that poor sleep among women was associated with a number of side effects. Elevated levels of psychological stress and feelings of hostility, depression and anger – all of this was found in women who slept poorly. In men, these changes were recorded.
